A Musical Journey

Dr. Joy Angela DeGruy

Dr. Joy serves on the HBB Advisory Board and began assisting writer, Mehr Mansuri, to advance the core mission of the HBB production, by leading interactive, audience-driven workshops with HBB’s New York audiences, and designing a ‘train the trainer facilitation program’ to empower artists and educators to work towards the healing within their own schools and communities.

Dr. Joy first embarked on assisting HBB writer, creator, Mehr Mansuri, in 2012 at the Annual National Race Amity Conference hosted by William “Smitty” Smith , where they were participating and presenting a variety of interactive workshops. By the summer of 2017, the show evolved into an adult professional production, and Dr. Joy invited Mansuri and the HBB cast to be the center-piece of her three-day “Be The Healing” conference at the LA Convention Center.

Says Dr. Joy in a recent interview: “I have no words to express how amazing they are and how humbled I am to have been a part of your journey…. the show was indeed a success and countless people were deeply moved and transformed. Our folks fell in love with you, your play and your wonderful cast. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving.”
